Target 5 Done!!


I then imported the walls and applied the texture to the floor to complete the kitchen apart from the extra assets such as stainless steel counters etc.













I have now completed task 5 by modelling the kitchen walls and created the floor texture.

Flashlight Trouble After UDK November Update!!

After being advised to update to November's release of UDK by my peers as help would be more available to me; I found that my flashlight didn't work as it should.

Final Upate On Target 2!!


After asking for help on the New Media Forum I was advised to use Blocking Volumes in UDK so the player would be able to climb the stairs which I have implemented.

Target 4 Done!!


I then imported the first room assets to complete the first room.

I then created a second texture for a window that the player had entered the house with the metal shutter pealed back for entry to the house.






























I have now completed task 4 by modelling windows, wood panels, walls and created floor and ceiling textures.

Target 3 Done!!

On the large side panel of the stairs I applied collision so the player could not walk through to underneath the stairs.


I have imported them into UDK and placed them throughout the level.





















I have completed task 3 and model the level assets required with textures.

Further Update Target 2!!

After I had modelled and textured my steps to my stairs I tried to adapt a tutorial in Mastering Unreal Technology book, Vol1, Chapter 5 to use my model as collision also but can't seem to get it to work. I believe that it could be down to my model being concaved so I will try to find another method so my character can interact with the stairs. Until I solve this problem I will move on to Target 3.

Update Target 2!!




I have imported the models and texture into UDK and applied 6 DOT simplified collision to the middle rail only to keep the player from falling of the stairs.







I have decided to split the stairs into components e.g top rail, middle rails, bottom rail and stairs.

Target 2 Done!!


I have modelled the main stairs for my level in 3DS Max and imported the stairs into my level.
I have found that no matter how I apply the collision to these stairs for one the player cannot climb them and two they are high in triangles & verticles.

I have now completed task of building the ground floor of the house in UDK for my final level prototype.

Targets set for November - December

1 Create ground floor of the house in UDK from first floor level plans.
2 Create a model for the main stairs in 3DS Max and import into UDK.
3 Create models and textures for a Door, Door Frame, Door Room Divider, A Chipboard, Large Piece of Skirting, Corner Piece of Skirting and Large Side Panel for the stairs.
4 After discussion with lecturer create first room walls, panels, widows, floor and ceiling texture to complete room.
5 Create kitchen walls and floor texture.
